Endoscopy allows a visual examination of internal organs
and body parts without invasive exploratory surgery. Different
types of endoscopy exist – rigid and flexible.
The advantage of this technique is that it is non-surgical, however
the animal must still be anaesthetised.
We frequently use endoscopy to locate and retrieve foreign bodies,
such as grass seeds in ear canals or blades of grass lodged in
the nasal cavity.
The technique allows for visualization of the lining of the digestive
system and for taking samples of the lining of these organs.
