Routine emergency visits are available on contacting
the hospital.
Please call as early as possible after 8.30 am for visits required
on that day.
Generally, we prefer not to do routine visits at weekend due
to staff limitations, but they may be available on Saturday by
prior arrangement.
For shared visits, the fee is reduced accordingly.
Owners preferring to transport their horses, ponies or donkeys
for treatment can be seen at the equine clinic by appointment.
Please call the main hospital on 01902 424725 to make arrangements.
A wide geographical area is covered embracing Wolverhampton, Kidderminster,
Cannock, Halesowen, Bridgnorth, Shrewsbury and Stafford.
While many routine procedures can be carried out in the horse’s
own stable environment, examination and treatment may often be
compromised by lack of suitable facilities.
Comprehensive lameness examinations, including work on hard and
soft surfaces, nerve blocking, ultrasonography and/or radiography
can be carried out at the clinic.
X-rays are taken and processed immediately in the specially designed
radiography room at our clinic.
We prefer X-ray cases to be brought in, unless the horse is in
severe pain and cannot be transported.
Ultrasonography can be carried out either at the clinic, or at
a client’s premises for investigation of soft tissue problems.
Both this and endoscopy require a good, safe power source.
Ultrasound is also used to determine whether a mare is ready to
covered and for determination of pregnancy.
Tanya Mason has a special interest in equine reproduction
and has experience of this while she was working in New Zealand
and Australia.
Endoscopy (both pre-and post-exercise) is commonly carried out
on performance horses and can be conducted at home or at the clinic.
This aids in the investigation of causes of abnormal respiratory
noise, chronic coughing, and in some cases poor performance. |
